VISIONS AUTHOR'S GUIDELINES

Editorial Philosophy. The best articles for PDMA's Visions magazine will provide insights into new product development (NPD) for practitioners that can help them improve their NPD results. New techniques or new applications of techniques are preferred. Articles will not promote individuals, products or companies.
Word Count. Each author must discuss word count with the editor. Please keep to the agreed-upon word count to avoid extensive cuts. The following word counts take into consideration one or two charts per page, plus pullout quotes.

Manuscript format. Articles should be submitted double-spaced in 12 point type Times Roman. Please double space the manuscript and include your name, title, company and email at the top of the article.
Exhibits and Artwork. Mention each exhibit in the text at the location where it should be placed. But put the exhibits themselves at the end of the document, i.e.:
- IN ARTICLE'S TEXT: "As you can see in Exhibit XXX on this page."
- ACTUAL EXHIBITS AT END OF ARTICLE: Exhibit 1: The Style
Exhibit Sources. Provide an accurate reference for each exhibit. Put that reference in the lower right, within the box of the exhibit as follows -- SOURCE: Author's Research or SOURCE: Manhattan Research Company, Inc. 2004 Study.
Footnotes. Number footnotes within the text, but put them all together at the end of the article.
Filing your story. Please send the story as an Microsoft Word attachment to the editor, April Klimley, at visionsed@pdma.org. Articles should be in Microsoft Word-compatible documents.
Author's photos. Please email a head shot of the author or authors to our designer, Andrea Ratcliff, at andrea@stevens-stevens.com.
Editing. The editor reserves the right to make edits in the manuscript for accuracy and space consideration.
Copyright Letter of Agreement. Shortly before publication, PDMA headquarters will send you a copyright agreement with instructions to sign and return it to them by email or fax.
Style. Ask for a Visions style sheet on grammar, punctuation and spelling style. We can email this to you as an attachment.
Deadline Extensions. Short deadline extensions can be made at the discretion of the editor. Contact the editor for these requests.
